L’illusion orchestrale

EN A pocket orchestra. The Ensemble Intercontinental (IntEns) is made up of nine musicians from all over the world. Their speciality: adapting symphonies and concertos to their ensemble. Familiar works are now revealed in minute detail, taking on an intimate and energetic character.

Together with Dutch-Luxembourg cellist Benjamin Kruithof, IntEns presents three symphonic masterpieces in a new setting: Mendelssohn's overture The Hebrides, written after his trip to Scotland, Schumann's Concerto for Cello and Orchestra and the most iconic symphony in the repertoire - Beethoven's Fifth.

Thanks to the transparent texture of the arrangements, we rediscover familiar works through new colours and musical lines. The ensemble's aim is clear: to showcase the richness of their line-up, which combines the breadth of an orchestra with the intimacy of chamber music.

Des oeuvres connues révèlent désormais les moindres détails et prennent un caractère intime et énergique.

Ensemble avec le violoncelliste néerlando-luxembourgeois Benjamin Kruithof, IntEns présente trois chefs-d’oeuvre symphoniques dans un cadre nouveau : l’ouverture Les Hébrides de Mendelssohn, écrit après son voyage en Écosse, le Concerto pour violoncelle et orchestre de Schumann et la symphonie la plus iconique du répertoire – la Cinquième de Beethoven.

Grâce à la texture transparente des arrangements, on redécouvre des oeuvres familières à travers de nouvelles couleurs et lignes musicales. Le but de l’ensemble est clair : montrer la richesse de leur formation qui combine l’ampleur d’un orchestre avec l’intimité de la musique de chambre.
